London New Year Day Parade

LNYDP2024

On 1 January 2024, the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA) participated as the only Chinese team in the New Year’s Day Parade, featuring dragon and lion dances, the 12 zodiac mascots, and adorable pandas, all of which delighted spectators along the route. As the parade passed through iconic landmarks such as Green Park, Piccadilly, Regent Street, and Whitehall, the streets were lined with over 500,000 enthusiastic onlookers, many of whom eagerly cheered and clapped for the LCCA’s lively performances. Mr Chu Ting Tang OBE, LCCA Chairman, noted the significance of such events in strengthening the connection between the local Chinese community and the broader London population. The day culminated with the spectacular World Dragon and Lion Dance Festival UK Edition, where the tourists were treated to an impressive high-pole lion dance performance, showcasing the exceptional skill and artistry of the performers.
